From a mosquito’s perspective

The world looks nothing like we see it. Imagine for a moment that you are a mosquito. You process signals from your sensory organs: “heat level,” “humidity level,” “carbon dioxide level.” All levels are at the right mark. You search for a landing surface using sonar. Remember the sound a mosquito makes? It determines the distance to the landing point using the Doppler effect, so it can land in a way that is least noticeable—not crashing, but gently touching down with its legs. The landing is dinner.

And then, this food unexpectedly kills you.

Do you realize what a glitch this is? It’s like if the refrigerator you opened to grab some sausage bit your head off.
