When power in a country is concentrated in the hands of one person, the entire nation begins to operate not in its historical context, but like a bull in a china shop, smashing everything around, injuring itself, and risking being shot.
Then the hormonal background of one person, their phobias, rationalizations, cognitive distortions, superstitions, rituals, ambitions, spontaneous expressions of instincts, unfounded judgments and opinions, private interests, victories or failures on the intimate front are reflected in the movements and actions of the entire country.
We are all imperfect, all irrational, and we all have issues with objectively perceiving reality. But we cannot harm those around us because we don’t have superpowers, and our impulses are balanced out by the rest of society.
A country led by a person endowed with excessive authority and power resembles a balloon that flails about in the air, moving in the direction dictated by a single, chosen Brownian particle inside it.
