Today is the day of condensation. Well, the heat has kicked in, people have turned on their air conditioners, but not all of them were ready for it. Often, the indoor unit is placed where it’s more convenient rather than where it’s more reliable. As a result, the water that condenses on the evaporator needs to be removed somehow. If it can’t be drained outside immediately, then you have to fit in a pump, a float water detector, and find a place to shove all of that.
Pumps break down, floats get clogged. Whatever we stuffed in there needs to be gutted out, so we can see what’s what. Most likely, we’ll have to replace the pump along with the float chamber. Well, we could try to tinker with the float chamber, but… it’s just too much hassle. It’s better to just replace everything right away. The service call costs more than the pump itself, and it will break down again anyway.
The first point is home, family, and two dogs—black-and-white spaniels. Each lives in its own crate. The crate is always open. The dogs are spoiled. Jumping on the furniture—how could they not? They are friendly and affectionate creatures.
On the second floor, there’s a children’s room. In the children’s room, there’s some kind of Lego land for girls. All the girl-themed Lego is gathered here. A collection of assembled Lego toys is lined up on a table that takes up half the room’s living space. The other half is also filled with Lego here and there. Sitting quietly on their bed—since that’s the last free space—are two “autistic” girls, playing with Lego. There’s zero reaction. No hellos or goodbyes… They just look at me with wide eyes and track my movements. Along with them, Dad is playing with Lego. Aha, Dad’s little game 🙂 The girls are quietly building something for themselves out of Lego. It’s vacation time, yet they’re sitting at home. The second girl was so quiet that I didn’t notice her right away. The air conditioner is in the children’s room, and the pump is in the attic. The house is old—lots of false floors and false ceilings. I struggled to thread the wires and hoses. I succeeded—I replaced the pump. Although, I could have just cleaned the float instead.
The second point: Kvarira, about 50-60 meters in size. Elderly people live there. The same story with the leak. I didn’t immediately realize there was a child in the house who, judging by the conversations, had come to visit their grandmother for the holidays. The child was quiet and unobtrusive. I never saw him. I didn’t even hear him—I figured out there was a child from the grandmother’s conversations. The dog—a small spitz-like creature, probably a Japanese Chin—was also much quieter than the spaniels and behaved more like a cat—came, looked around, assessed the situation, and left. She reacted stoically to being petted. Someone before me had attached an old float directly to the corrugated hose. Naturally, it was leaking. I had to tinker with it and ended up using silicone.
The third point. Quite a luxurious mansion. The owner says it was leaking like a bucket. I check—nothing is leaking. I run up to the attic—the pump is working. I hit my head on the bricks in the passage. Ouch. Oh, and there are kids here. At first, one boy started watching me with interest, and by the time I was leaving, a second one appeared. Quiet, unobtrusive, and hardly noticeable. They don’t know how to say goodbye or hello either—it’s clear they’re shy about talking to strangers. They don’t go outside, even though there’s a beautiful lawn behind the house. They’ll probably spend the two months of vacation like house pets. I didn’t find any leak—so I reported that. What was leaking? Who knows—it’s no longer a problem. Maybe the pump has a weak connection, for example.
The fourth point. The bakery. The owner is a jack of all trades. The shop and kitchen are on the first floor, and the apartment is on the second. The air conditioning was leaking, but now it has stopped. However, he didn’t even have a pump. It’s a rather puzzling story. Apparently, dust accumulated in the drain pan and clogged the drainage. Were there children at the fourth point? I don’t even know anymore. Maybe there were, but they just blended in better than in other cases. Perhaps all the children in this area are like that?
I arrived at work and was pleasantly surprised. They handed me a thick folder with technical documentation for some tricky machine for a well-known restaurant chain. I’ll be studying it. They said I need to be focused on these machines.
